Pearcey attacks Labour’s record

Commenting on the Labour Party’s selection of their Parliamentary Candidate for the next election, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Jackie Pearce

y said: “The Labour Party’s record in Bolton locally and nationally has been disastrous. Jobs and homes have been lost and the economy is in ruins. Defending such an appalling record is going to be impossible for any Labour Candidate.”

Jackie Pearcey will be the Liberal Democrat’s candidate in the next General Election for the Bolton West constituency and has already established herself as a clear-alternative to Labour.

DNA database ‘out of control’ -Pearcey

Liberal Democrat PPC for Bolton West Jackie Pearcey has condemned the DNA database as out of control. The database is supposed to comprise convicted criminals, however it has expanded to include hundreds of thousands of people who have never been convicted, or even charged with any crimes.

Jackie Pearcey said “There are many children on the database, who have had their DNA taken for trivial matters such as dropping litter. They are stigamatised by being on this database, alongside rapists and murderers. Now it turns out that a 1 year old baby is on the database. There is no crime which a 1 year old baby can commit which could possily justify keeping their DNA on a police database.

“Years back, when police took fingerprints from people who were not suspects, but needed to have their prints eliminated from a scene of crime, these fingerprints were always destroyed after the case was completed. However it seems that DNA samples are kept forever. The Government should ensure that when people allow their DNA to be sampled in order to help forensic experts to understand a scene of crime, the samples should be destroyed, like fingerprints used to be.”

Bolton West Liberal Democrats have selected Dr. Jackie Pearcey as their Prospective Parliamentary Candidate.

Jackie Pearcey has lived in Greater Manchester for over 20 years, after first coming to Manchester to study for a Physics PhD and now works in the IT sector.

Jackie Pearcey is a member of Manchester City Council and has a strong track record of speaking out on crime and disorder issues and the environment.

When selected Jackie Pearcey said “Neither Labour nor the Conservatives have much to offer the people of Bolton West. On the one hand we have a failing Government, whilst many voters still haven’t forgotten the last Conservative Government. Only the Liberal Democrats offer a real alternative to them both.”

Jackie was outspoken on the news that more local Post Offices were set to close last year. Residents supported her petition, but unfortunately the government had already sounded the death knell for the vital community facilities.
